Hi Friends,

Input File - VSAM File - FB- 240

VENDOR-NUM VEN-TYPE COMMENT
A2345 18 PRE REQUISTE 08/01/2010
A2345 17 PRE REQUISTE 08/01/2010
A2345 17 PRE REQUISTE 08/01/2010
A2345 17 01/08/2010 01/28/2010
A2345 17 02/08/2010 02/28/2010
A2345 17 03/08/2010 03/28/2010
A2345 17 04/08/2010 04/28/2010

Expected output
VENDOR-NUM VEN-TYPE COMMENT
A2345 17 01/08/2010 01/28/2010
A2345 17 02/08/2010 02/28/2010
A2345 17 03/08/2010 03/28/2010
A2345 17 04/08/2010 04/28/2010

Extract only the vendor type records of vendor type = 17 having the comment format - mm/dd/yyyy <space> mm/dd/yyyy

My shop contains only the SYNCSORT, is there any way i could filter out the records with the above format.

Hello,

Simply INCLUDE the records with a slash (/) in the required positons.

Thanks a lot.

Is it possible to extract the records with the format using include?

MM/DD/YYYY MM/DD/YYYY

The date could be any date, but the format of the comment will be the same.

Hello,

If the date will always be that format, there is no reason to use anything other than the slashes. . . . There is not a "function" that i'm aware of to determine if a field is a date or not. . .

If you have not posted what is really to be done, do so now.
