Hi,
Could you please let me know the precise conversion formula to convert a DASD measure - track days to DASD GB?
I was told that the formula was DASD GB = (track days / 400,000) * 0.63
Is this correct?
But this formula has a variance of exactly 2.88% from the correct number.
Correct GB space is 2.88% lesser than the GB derieved from the formula.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks & Regards, |

NO
the formula does not take in consideration the warp factor for rotating devices ( converted to radians obviously )
and/or the electron spin for the SSD ( solid state devices )
anyway the formula looks like plain bull**** to me
what is the genius trying to measure |

Bill,
Thanks for your time responding. I did some more reading on the application manual and it appears that it is a custom measure used by a CA product.
The manual too said that DASD GB = (track days / 400,000) * 0.63 , so im fine with it. |

Hi D,
I too do not know what that term means, I assumed that it was a common DASD term and someone here might be knowing which I am not aware of..
After referring the CA-JARS manual I came to know that it was a terminology to represent DASD usage space.
Based on some understanding of the code,
If the DCVVLCAP - Volume capacity from DCOLLECT V type records is 15770 then track days is 6840
For DCVVLCAP of 16600 - TRKDAY is 7200
For 17430 TRKDAY is 7560 and so on...
There is a JARS table that defines specific TRKDAY values for specific volume capacities.
I thought it was a common term, my bad
Warm Regards, |
