It is not documented in the current manuals that i can find . . .

appears that it a L(unix)U(nix)W(indoz) feature
and the topic appears (quick google) in discussion about the Referentially intact data slice extraction feature

This is a MAINFRAME forum,
but we obviously provide library functions for the lazy
