Hi There,

I got below requirement

We have an input file. One of the field is date. We have to split the input file depends on the date dynamically.

Can we split the output file dynamically depends upon number of dates in the input file?

Write a program? Table entry for each unique date.

Close and reopen file, dynamically allocate files as needed for each table entry as you read through original file.

Or, submit jobs via internal reader as needed rather than dynamic allocation. Using another pgm to snag the specific date records.

JCL does nothing but run pgms! Yours, utilities, or some vendor pgm.

And, of course allocate datasets, library search order et al to make the pgm run.

DFSORT has several techniques for splitting files, but it does NOT allocate the output data sets dynamically. You would either have to supply the maximum number of output DD statements or generate them in a job you submit to the internal reader.

For information on some of these techniques, see the following "Smart DFSORT Tricks" at:

o Split a file to n output files dynamically
o Five ways to split a data set
o Generate JCL to submit to the internal reader
