What I could understand based upon that: Once the Jobs are archived (AH) in $avers - you need to "pull it out from archive-library" to see the different DDnames in spool. Usually there are batch-job to recall such archieved job and they are site-specifc. Please ask soomeone, from support or your team, if they already using such a JCL. If they are not, get the documentation on $avers for your shop and start from there by searching for AH or archive.

When you have the archive list up on the screen, put an R beside the job(s) you want to see the details of. Hit the enter key, fill in the data if needed for the Restore job, and let $AVRS submit the job. Once the job has been restored from the archive tape, it will again be available in $AVRS with a T beside it. How long the temporary job will stay available in $AVRS depends upon how your site support group set up the retention policy in $AVRS during the installation.

Sure -- look at the online help to see what the line commands are. I don't remember right offhand if the command is E or O, but there is a way to copy job output (a single file or all the job output) to a data set.

look in the manual,
ask your co-workers,
site support,
read some of the documentation generated by your site.
think!

Hello,

What did you learn when you looked at the online help (as Robert suggested)? Many online tools also provide an option to submit the job in batch. . .

If your site is licensed for $AVRS, your site has access to the manuals -- either hardcopy or online. You may need to talk to coworkers, your team leader, or your site support group to find where the manuals are, but they do exist for your site.

Once you find the manuals, read the $AVRS User's Guide manual for section B chapter 1 on $AVRPULL - Online database extract and you will find what you need. Note that the JCL in the manual requires some customization for each site, so you will absolutely have to talk to someone at your site to get the right data set names for the job. And, considering that the job can impact system performance, there may a site restriction requiring it to be run by a systems person, not an application programmer.

At all the shops where $AVERS was in use and I'd been to, using "O" in-line command against the respective DD name would do what you need. But then, this can be mis-leading if your shop is tailored differently.
