Hi Team,
I have a query regardig DFDSS restore.The DFDSS FULL Volume dump was taken from MOD-9 dasd volume and now i am trying to restore it to MOD-3 dasd volume using logical restore to multiple dasd volumes by speicifying in OUTDD the volume serials.
//OUTDD DD VOL=SER=(ABC123,ABC124,ABC125),DISP=OLD

It restored only to the first dasd volume and otehr volumes were ignoreed.

I tried using the VOL(*) in the RESTORE SYSIN cards but didnt work.Please suggest any ideas on this.

It is always a bad idea to try to perform logical restores from physical dumps. Especially as you are trying to restore to an unlike device type.

Guess you'll have to take along hard read of the manual

From the DFDSMSdss Storage Administration Guide:
Quote:
6.6.3.1 Output Volume Selection

For a physical data set RESTORE command, you must specify an output volume with the OUTDDNAME or OUTDYNAM keyword. A physical data set restore operation restores only to the first volume in a list passed in the OUTDDNAME or OUTDYNAM parameter.
In other words, with a physical dump what you are wanting to do cannot be done. Either restore to a mod-9, redo the dump as a logical dump instead of a physical dump, or accept that your restore is not going to happen. Your choice.

unless you pre-allocate an empty file across the volumes and do track level restores into it, but yuk!
