Greetings.
We're running zOS 1.10 and on one of our systems we've found a PDSE that displays a different member count depending on the command you're using to display the directory.
If, under ISPF Opt3.4, we use I (Data Set Information) we see a count of 10,623 members, whereas if we use B(rowse) the screen tells us we have 14,269 members. Quite a difference.
I copied this PDSE with DFSMSdss and the copy-ds now tells me I've got 14,269 members, whether I'm using B(rowse) or I(nfo).
Anybody any idea? |

Reset Statistics? You mean, I should try a reset and if so, for which statistic(s), or you suspect a reset went wrong? |

Sounds more like a question for IBM. Be careful with PDSE's...never use them on cross-plex available DASD for example otherwise results are 'unpredictable'.
You might find some MODIFY commands you can enter to the SMSPDSE* started tasks to analyse your files or refresh the SMSPDSE* address space buffers.
It would be interesting to try doing the DFDSS COPY again but with PARM='UTILMSG=YES' specified on the exec to see the called IEBCOPY utility messages.
Perhaps also try copying your secondary copy PDSE back to a PDS format version using the CONVERT paramter in the COPY command as well to see how the numbers stack up. |

Both are correct. Browse shows members plus aliases. ISPF Opt3.4, I (Data Set Information) does not count the aliases . |
