Hi,
Could someone please help me in getting the requirement done.
The requirement is below.
I have PDS "TSO.CCCSEK.CARDLIB". In this PDS there are 100 members. Some of the member contain the word "PROD". I need a jcl that will replace "PROD" with "TEST" in the members, which contain this word "PROD".
Thanks,
Chandu. |

There is a search button at the top of each and every page. Please, it is free to use.
Search for ISPF edit macro and you will find examples of what you need to do. |

Have you considered that I did actually understand your original request. I do know what you meant by "I want a JCL to ..................."
Have you considered that perhaps, just perhaps, that the edit macro solution would work in batch (or "in a JCL" for those who know no different). |

Here is another example of someone wanting a solution,
and having no idea what the solution is, how it would work, or how to implement the solution.
Have you investigated the utilities (especially 3rd party tools)
available at your shop?
I doubt that you could support the edit macro approach,
while very easy to an experienced programmer,
and only as a topic in this forum about 3 times a week for the last
couple of years,
your not bothering to search for nearly identical topics,
indicates you have very basic skills.
suggest you search this forum,
suggest you look at what is available at your site. |

Maybe IPOUPDTE will work for your situation? |

Hello,
In addition to determining how you want to implement you will probably want to look for something other than just PROD. . . What if PRODUCT is in the member?
If your environment is like several i've worked on you might be able to use .PROD. or something similar. . . |

Another possibility that's been discusses before is to use IEBPTPCH to copy the PDS to a sequential dataset, make the required changes using SORT, and then re-build the PDS using IEBUPDTE. |

I came to know that it is possible with REXX as there are many word like PROD, "(DSN)" and many more that need to changes in all the members that contain. So going my FIle-AId, SRCHFOR command will take lot of time to make changes. That the reason I have asked for help.
Thanks,
Chandu. |

And that is why we are willing to help you.
All we ask is that you describe your problem what you have tried for yourself and where you are encountering problems.
You have had some good suggestions, and I still believe that one of the easiest ways is using ISPF or File-Aid. File-Aid should not take more than a few minutes to perform this on 100 members, and nor should an ISPF edit macro. |

Click HERE to see an example of a basic REXX / ISPF edit macro to do almost what you want to do.
Read it, try to understand it and come back if you get problems, and yes, you probably will do. Another topic to help you would to be to search for ISPF batch (or JCL). |
