Hi,
i inferred from materials saying like instance in LUW is same as subsystem z/os.
whether i can say like a subsytem is a combination of database service address space and Database.
if i want to create a new subsytem whether i need to have a seperate storage for DBAS and database .
please provide me if u have any link which has the diagram which gives a realtionship.
i googled it and unable to find exact info.
Please clarify,
regards,

LUW ==> Logical Unit of Work
nothing to do with the subsystem

LUW as in DB2 LUW ===> Linux, UNIX, Windows
this in contrast with DB2 for z/OS |

Hi,
i just want to explain the question in a better way..
In LUW(Linux.unix windows) for DB2,
We call instance as an environment where we have database and the background process along with the storage area declared for the same.
In Z/os (DB2)
Instance is replaced by Subsystem in Z/os.
Subsystem is nothing but collection of tasks or services which is performed in different address space or memeory area
1)If i need to create a new subssytem whetehr i need to declare a new storage area i.e a new address space or a new area has to be allocated?
2)AS like in instance in LUW whether we can have more than one databse in subsystem in z/os?
Please let me know if u have any doc having diff between Instance in LUW and Subsystem in z/os
Thanks,

Hello,
The operating environments have almost nothing in common other than they are called db2. . .
The platforms are completely different regardless of database. Indeed, Windows is very little like any Unix implementation other than they both are ascii. . . |
