Hi everyone,
I was trying to transfer a file using IND$FILE GET option from ISPF option 6. But it's giving the following error:
Trans14 - This comes when I does not use single quotes to enclose the host dataset.
If I use the single quotes then this error comes - DATA SET R0373.TSTHK.R0373.CDF NOT IN CATALOG OR CATALOG CAN NOT BE ACCESSED
Can someone please let me know the reason for this.
Thanks. |

If you use single quotes, the data set name must be fully qualified -- if you're downloading a file your TSO user id built, you must start the data set name with your TSO user id. |

The dataset name is starting with my TSO user Id.
The dataset name, which is a PS file, is fully qualified.
Still it is giving the error - DATA SET R0373.TSTHK.R0373.CDF NOT IN CATALOG OR CATALOG CAN NOT BE ACCESSED |

Also, go to ISPF 3.4 and post the results when you put in R0373.TSTHK.R0373 as your high level qualifier to search |

why are you not initiating the download from your pc?
I have always insured that my host was at 6.0
and then used the emulator to initiate the download. |

I created this dataset using ISPF 3.2 option. I tried creating another one which again has same issue - DATASET NOT CATALOGED.
Is there any specific attribute which I need to take care of when creating these Datasets?
The attributes for the dataset that I created are as:
General Data,
,Management class . . :,STANDARD,
,Storage class . . . :,STRIPE00,
,,Volume serial . . . :,DSM543, ,
,,Device type . . . . :,3390 ,
,Data class . . . . . :,EXTENDED,
,,Organization . . . :,PS ,
,,Record format . . . :,FB ,
,,Record length . . . :,136 ,
,,Block size . . . . :,27880 ,
,,1st extent cylinders:,1
,,Secondary cylinders :,1
,,Data set name type :,EXTENDED |

A DATASET NOT CATALOGED message has one simple explanation: the data set you are attempting to access does not have a catalog entry. The possible reasons for this are varied:
data set does not really exist
data set was allocated but not cataloged
data set name not properly qualified by your access attempt
you are providing a volume serial but the data set is not on that volume serial
typos
system catalog errors (but your entire system would be affected)
VTOC errors (but this would cause other problems as well)
Given your inability so far to provide the requested information, you probably need to either review your data set name in light of this list, or contact your site support group for assistance. |

nitpick: it needs to start with your prefix. It could be different than your TSO userid.
But this does not seem related to your problem. |

True, Pedro -- most of the time the prefix is the TSO user id but it does not have to be. |
