Hi,
I have an requirement as follows:
I have records in a file. i want to arrange the record with one feild at same position. I mean i will have that feild in different position and i want to place that in another position.
For example, I have value in a feild at 466 position and the same value at 530 position in the next record. I want the value in the second record at position 466 rather than in 530 position.
can you please help me on this.
Please let me know if the requirement is not clear.
Thanks,
Kiran. |

Does every alternate record is having required field at 530 position?
or there is any identifier to identify such record...??
It would be helpful if you show some sample records (relevant fields only)....
Your previous posts are in DFSORT forum so I assume you have the same installed. |

Hello,
As Sambhaji mentioned, you need to post some sample data.
Create some short records that demonstrate what you have as input. Then show the output you want when the process is run.
Explain the "rules" for getting from the sample input to the sample output. |

Hi,
Could you clarify the below queries?
1. Will value be the same for all the records irrespective of the position?
2. As you mentioned, value from the second record at postion 530 needs to be moved to postion 466. In that case, what needs to be there at pos 530 after moving the value.
3. As Sambhaji and Dick mentioned, please post clear requirement with some sample input and desired output? |
