Hi,
I am unable to view an ISPF screen that normally pops out when we try to logoff from the tso session.
This screen normally asks whether we want to keep the temporary dataset that has been generated or we want to delete it off or we want to print and keep, etc and other options.
Currently I am not receiving this screen. Does any one knows the solution for the same ? |

So, you are getting READY prompt while exiting ISPF? |

Could it have to do with the following :
Setting up Log Data Set Defaults
From the Main Menu, enter the SETTINGS command. Position your cursor on Log/List at the upper left of the top action bar, and press Enter. Select 1 for ‘Log Data set defaults’ and press Enter. The Log Data Set Defaults menu displays. For the Process Option field, specify 2 for ‘Delete data set (without printing)’, and press PF3. Press PF3 again to exit the Settings panel. Now, each time you logoff TSO, the session log is deleted automatically. This is the option most people prefer, as the session log simply logs what you have done on TSO is not required to keep or print. Ordinarily, you are prompted for the disposition of the Log dataset as you logoff. Now that you have gone through this setup, this step will be eliminated and logging off TSO will be a little more streamlined. |

Peter,
You would make a great librarian
It just stupifies me that there are so many people currently employed within IT who don't know how to find and /or use a manual |

Because of that sites like this do exist, and sometimes keep people
like me off the streets. |

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your info.
With the setup process explained by you, we can delete off the log/list file everytime we logoff without opening that pop up/ispf screen. Actually I want to know how to bring that popup screen everytime I logoff so that I can select the option of keep/delete the dataset.
Thanks, |

Probably you'd like to answer these questions - If it was normal until recently then what is/was changed now, why the behavior is no longer "normal" now? |

Anuj,
Sometimes people want to do something slightly different with the log / list datasets where usually the default or chosen settings are perfectly acceptable. I do this from time to time, albeit very rarely.
It's hardly rocket science to change the settings on a temporary / permanent basis, and like most things it just takes a little testing and see what the results are.
Still, it's far easier for people to post here rather than try anything for themselves |

, yep that's exact my point, expat - the moment he says " I did this", I'll say, "ok, please revert that back to 'normal'" |

vcjadhav,
It's possible that you didn't do anything in your session to generate a LOG or LIST entry so ISPF bypassed the screen.
Exit the Primary Menu using PF3 to get to the Log/List actions screen, When you use 'X' to exit, you take the default Log/List actions. |

At my current site, either PF3 or "X" from Primary menu, I get to the Log/List actions screen.
But, in previous site, your statement was true.
Perhaps, it is site dependent? |

Most people do not want to see the the log / list panel when they exit.
One way to avoid is to set the 'primary pages' and 'secondary pages' to zero. Perhaps you did that somehow.
What happens when you type 'PRINT' in the primary menu (you should get 'physical screen printed' message in the upper right) then try to exit? |
