Hi there, can someone please explain to me why is IMS returning GC's, I read the status explanation but cannot really understand what the unit-of-work is. Is the IMS jumping from one area to another area.
I will really appreciate any responses. |

Tha's exactly the same status description that I have, this is an existing program and it has logic to handle the GS's, every number of GC's it does a checkpoint. I would like to really understand why is the GC returned by the IMS |

Look up FR status code. You will see this:
Quote: |
Programmer Response: Either terminate the program and restart it with a larger buffer allocation, or provide a routine that causes frequent commit points. If PROCOPT=H is used, make sure that a commit point is requested after a GC code has been returned.

Thank you Sandy, I appreciate your help. I'll keep looking for information that tells me exactly what the GC code means and will post it her.

The manual is rather explicit.
Suggest you have a talk with your dba and possibly this will lead to a better understanding. |
