I have a KSDS which has been defined with SHAREOPTIONS(3,3) and is attached to a CICS region. Now, I need to change some thousand records in this file without closing the file in CICS.
Initially I tested by running IDCAMS - REPRO REPLACE JCL and when I browsed the file using FILEAID from my TSO session, I found that the file had been corrected properly. But the CICS screens did not show the changes. When I closed and re-opened the file in CICS, then I found the screens were showing the correct data.
Now I need to do the same in production and I cannot close the file in the production online region. Is there any alternate solution ? |

no....
all these issue fall under the category planned application outages/unavailability
and as such there must be a provision for them in the SLA
what would You think could happen if a transaction tried to access the data during the process...
what about the recovery restart issues ( journal records for the file updates )
a heck of syncronization to be done

Hmm ... looks like I don't have an option but wait for the daily scheduled downtime for the prod CICS region. Our CICS support guys also suggested the same. Guess business have to accept that delay ... can't help.
Thanks. |
