Hi,
Is there a utility in JCL that will help to search a text in DSNs whereby i only know the upper qualifier...
For example i want to search 'RAJIV' in all DSNs starting from P3453.H5434.**
Of if i can do so on TSO.
Please help me with some JCL if any |

There are plenty of utilities that will search for a string (SORT and SUPERC are two examples) but since you're considering a job you'd have to supply the entire list of datasets for either of them to work with first, most likely by using IDCAMS LISTCAT to show all of the cataloged datasets with that indicated high-level qualifier. |

If you want to do it in TSO (not JCL), see the SRCHFOR command of the ISPF data set list. It will do this in your ISPF session. Or you can cobble together a small Rexx using the ISPF LMDLIST service (or LISTCAT or 'sys1.samplib(iggcsirx)' ) and SuperC or SORT as Kevin alluded to. |
