I have few questions on RTIMOUT profile attribute. Please help me finding the answers.
1. Is RTIMOUT attribute of transaction profile is only for terminal inputs?
2. I want to know, If a task is waiting for a file or any CICS resource for more than the interval specified in RTIMOUT, will it be cancelled by CICS?
3. If a transaction sends a map and waiting for the inputs from the terminal user for more than the value specified in RTIMOUT be cancelled by CICS?
4. In what circumstances would RTIMOUT take effect and task will be cancelld?
Thanks for your time in advance.

RTIMOUT({NO|mmss})
specifies the time-out value:
For the read time-out feature. The task that is timed out receives an AKCT , AZCT or AZIG abend. (Note that if a value is specified and you wish to let it default to NO, you must completely delete the value previously specified.)
To terminate an IIOP request processor task that has been waiting for a method request for longer than the RTIMOUT value.
RTIMOUT has no effect for basic (unmapped) APPC connections.
NO
The read time-out feature is not required.
value
This is an interval (MMSS for minutes and seconds) after which the task is terminated if no input has been received from the terminal. The maximum value that can be specified is 70 minutes. |

Thanks for your reply Bill.
I already got this information from CICS resource definition guide. But wanted to make it very specific. So i would appreciate if anyone could answer my questions directly. |
