Hello,
Cancel abends the job.
Purge removes it from the system. |

I've got one question here:
What is the difference between Purging a running JOB and Cancelling a running JOB.
for e.g -
for purging, we type P against the running JOB name in SDSF
for cancelling, we type C against the running JOB name in SDSF
Please explain in detail..I wud appreciate it. Thanks. |

Hi Dick,
Sir, I wanted to know whther purging a running JOB (by typing P against the JOB name in SDSF) would cancel it first and then removes it from the system OR it would not cancel the running JOB at all ??? |

A purge cancels the job and deletes the job's output from JES. |

After output processing is complete, the purge releases all spool space associated with the completed job. CANCEL command is used to end an active job and that's all. |
