Can you help me on that... I am not a Unix Expert... I am Mainframe Guy... Do we need to change the file format to be Fixed Block? |

Hello,
Suggest you talk with the people who support that UNIX application. If the actual file cannot be changed, they may be able to copy the file into a format that will work for this requirement. |

I reviewed the Connect:Direct Process Guides and I couldn't find any references to a specific code parameter for enabling/disabling the retention of the RDW. I also logged into and did a search on the Connect:Direct User's Forum and also got no hits. So, it doesn't appear that this issue has ever been openly discussed. You'll most likely need to initiate a problem ticket with Sterling Commerce.
My guess is that, if the target dataset is specified as VB, and the data is EBCDIC, then the product must know that it needs to process the RDW bits and use it to properly re-create each record as it's received. I can't think of a logical reason why the product wouldn't honor those bits. |
