Hello Admin team/Moderator team,

This is totally a non-techie question. IBMMainframes.com provides something like a rank to every user. Something like a New User, Active User, Active Member, Senior Member, Global Moderator, etc..

I am just curious to know what are these classifications based upon.

Can anybody share details about the same ? icon_smile.gif

This is typically based on the number of posts made by the user.

Thanks for the reply d.sch.

Will it be possible for you to share the various ranks available and the number of posts that might be required for each ranks?

Also, I dont think ranks like Moderator qualify with the number of posts.

What is the rules to be qualified as a moderator? Does it happen like a job recruitment process?

If i knew, i'd share icon_smile.gif

This may be posted somewhere in the forum - time permitting, i'll look around.

Yes, they do. To become a moderator, or a global moderator, or other, a minimum number of posts is reauired. Not everyone who has the number of posts becomes a moderator. . .

I know of no fixed set of rules. The way i became a moderator was thru an invitation. Unlike job recruitment, there is no salary for being a moderator icon_wink.gif

I am sure its not about money. I see it like being one member of the elite group of mainframe skilled people in the world. I am sure the person do need a lot of technical skill to do it. But when you get into that elite group, it gives newbies like me a lot of satisfaction when some suggestions or clues or sometimes solutions as such comes from one fo those experts. icon_smile.gif

I seriously would keep 'becoming a moderator of such a forum' as my goal(cant classify if its a short term / long term icon_razz.gif) to enrich my mainframe skills.

You're welcome icon_smile.gif

One day, you and today's other "newbies" will be the experienced people.

Don't be in too big a hurry for the time to pass - it goes by very quickly. . .

I totally agree with that. I still remember my first post when I had a DFSORT related doubt. And I was suggested by people to post my query here. And I reviewed my post a hundred times before I hit the Submit buton because I was told that Frank helps out everybody but only if you are precise and clear with what you want. But today, I already feel like mastering the art of posting requests icon_biggrin.gif

Well, I do go to great effort to help people clarify what they want so I can respond. Sometimes it takes two or three tries to get a clear requirement out of somebody. To my mind, writing clear requirements is an absolutely essential skill for a programmer. I wish more people had that skill.

Actually, I see it was Kolusu (my teammate) who responded to your first post in the DFSORT Forum. I responded to your second one.

Site-Admin (sic.) has usually nothing to to with the posting ( number or content )
the job description is related to general site administration tasks

the moderator thing is a different show...
it is based on the number of posts but, above all, the quality of technical content
and is by invitation/nomination not automatic!
