Hi all,

We are facing a major issue while running a java application which accesses a table having a decfloat column defined.

Our application and DB2 platform is on zOS v1R9.
The table was initially created with decimal datatype in one of the columns.
Later we came to know about decfloat from the link

http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/techarticle/dm-0801chainani/

It had mentioned that we can alter the column datatype from decimal to decfloat and we did so..

Now, yesterday we ran REORG and RUNSTATS on our table having that particular column. Since then we are facing a problem while running select queries with where clause on that table...

for eg.
SELECT * FROM EMPLOYEE WHERE SALARY > 50000.

Here my Salary column is of decfloat datatype and while running this query using comparison operators ( < , > ) , we are getting following error through Java appliaction

Execution failed due to a distribution protocol error that caused re allocation of the conversation.

And this error through QMF:

Explanation:

o DB2 Message ID: d

o SQLERRD1/SQLERRD2/SQLERRD3: 00000000 00000000 00000000

o SQLERRD4/SQLERRD5/SQLERRD6: FFFFFFFF 00000000 00000000

o DB2 Reason Code: 0

DB2 Product ID: DSN08010

Message No: DSQ10496 SQL Code (SQL State): -901 (58004)

One thing to note is we are not getting any error if we are using '=' operator.

Can you help us out through this.

instead of > or <, just for giggles try
BETWEEN 5000 AND 999999999
(or what ever the max is).
