Hi Friends,
One of my JCL is frequently failing with the reason
'Dataset Reservation was Unsuccessfull'
IEF453I ISM135P - JOB FAILED - JCL ERROR
.
.
.
IEF373I STEP/DTR0001 /START 2009336.0120
IEF374I STEP/DTR0001 /STOP 2009336.0120 CPU 0MIN 00.01SEC SRB 0MIN 00.00
IEF211I ISM135P ISM3255 STEP09 SYBASIN - DATA SET RESERVATION UNSUCCESSFUL
IEF272I ISM135P ISM3255 STEP09 - STEP WAS NOT EXECUTED.
I have checked forum for this error and I have gone through the link
'http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg1OA01622' that was provided in forum.
I can see comments in IBM site for this issue as shown below
The fix for the defect described in this APAR has been
shipped in z/os V1R5. (Correction on 10/19/05: z/OS V1R6.)
Can any one were able to track this issue in the release versions.
Does any able to find permanent fix for this issue. Please share your findings.
Thanks and Regards,
Rajkumar Nerella |

The APAR states the permanent fix was shipped in 1.6 of z/OS. If you are running version 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, 1.9, 1.10 or 1.11 of z/OS you already have the fix applied. IBM does not generally lie to customers about these things. |

There can be user-caused problems leading to this same error message. For example, trying to create a (+1) generation when another job is processing the entire BASE.
Check out the dataset trying to be allocated to SYBASIN. |

LOL -- I'd like to believe you were not a strict teacher during those old days... |

I had my moments ... but generally you had to really mess up quite badly not to pass my classes. |
