Ping is a universal command that is available on every operating system to test the reachability of a network. |

Title: Stonebranch Universal Command
Listing URL: www.stonebranch.com/
Description: It allows data centers to remotely execute UNIX, Windows NT, or SAP R/3 commands from their mainframe system.
There is no documentation available on the internets, as far as i did see. |

What are you calling a universal command? One that runs on z/OS, Windows, Apple, Unix, Linux, Sun, other platforms? Be aware that different platforms have different operating system interfaces and machine languages and an executable from Windows (for example) is absolutely useless on a z/OS or Unix machine -- or anywhere except a Windows machine.
Things like ping and traceroute can be considered universal but they are created specifically for each TCP/IP implementation; there is no one universal source code for them that runs on all machines. |
