Hi Gents ,

In our one of the production batch job , we use ARCINBAK utility problem to backup some of the VSAM and flatfiles before doing billing process.

All these batch jobs are running fine up to yesterday . But yesterday all these jobs are failed with the following error .

" Dataset ABC.PQR.XYZ is failed for backup . RC 08 and REAS = 037 '.

Apart from this I am not able to print form ARCPRINT log .

If possible could you please any one let me know any idea for this problem .

Cheers

I think it must be because of Space problem in output dataset.

Hi Shriram ,

Thanks for your quick reply.

Hi dbzTHEdinosauer ,

Thanks for your advise . I have verified in the manuals based on the ARCPRINT message log , but I am bit confused about the information .

Which showing as " an logical error occurred while building the parameter list "

Hi,

out of curiosity, how many tapes were created before it failed ?

also it would help to see the all of the job output.

Hello,

Are BK1 and BK2 the "backup tapes"? Suggest you lose the SHR if these are tapes. . . The manual i have says BACKnn, not BK. . .

As requested, you need to post more complete info.

Was there not a very very useful ARCnnnn message code issued with this message.

If so, how about sharing it with us so that we might take a look at the manual and find out what it says for you. Or have you done that already.

Also, the use of HSM to take this type of intermediate backup IMHO is not good practice. HSM should NEVER be used for application dependant backups. Data that is created by intermediate application backups should be maintained within that application and not externally. Yes, the use of SMS TMM defined output from backups is acceptable as it is in effect controlled by the application rather than HSM.
