When talking about GDS it is important to use the correct terminology, as both version and generation are both valid in terms of a GDS.
It is a well known fact that only one version of a GDS may exist at any one time, however, multiple generations may exist together.
Please learn and use the correct terminology when posting, as using the wrong term can cause confusion and possibly delay a resolution to your problem

And in answer to your question, yes it is, however using GDS as a trigger is usually considered as being not the best way to do this.
I usually trigger on a static dataset and in the triggered job / application the static dataset is then moved to a new GENERATION |

My Bad...
I meant to say a new "Generation".
I am not looking for the new generation has to trigger a job, but instead the job should have the new generation as a requirement.
so is this a possible scenario? |

What does this mean? How does a job have a new generation as a requirement?
Possibly it will help to show what you want to accomplish with an example. . . |

For exacmple, lets say job J1 is creating a GDG generation every day. And there exists another job J2 that should run if and if the GDG generation is crated for that day.
so, my question is.. is this a possible to declare J2 dependent on GDG generation created by J1?
Thanks

Why not make J2 either dependant on or triggered by J1 |

yeah.... i got that.. what will be the case if J1 is running in some external system and its doing FTOP the GDG in my mainframe system. Based on that i have to proceed further. |

If you are using a scheduler then the external system should notify
the completion of J1 to the scheduler. |
