Hi,

Could anyone please tell what FAMVS is? One of my jobs using this utility and it it compares two files(the whole record in two files) and writes the changed records in another file.

Now i need to skip a field in a record and compare the files. Is there anyway that i can select the fields to be compared using control card.
When i searched for manual, i could not find any...

Please send me the link if anyone knows.

Regards,
Divya S.

You should know a bit more about Your jobs

FAMVS is not a commonly use term, I suppose,
a google search for did not report any hit,

wild guess...could be something related to FAVER,
anyway the best sources of info for local jargon are always Your peers or Your support

FAMVS is coded in the exec jcl statement?

FAMVS could be a combination of F(ile)A(id for )MVS

Yes, I also guessed so..
Later confirmed from the control cards that It is nothing but a File Aid compare and they have used this short term FAMVS, substituted for FILEAID icon_smile.gif

Another fine example of why I detest the rampant use of acronyms, especially all of the site specific ones of which there are a gazillion.
