If your version/release of COBOL uses LE (mandatory for COBOL/370 and greater), then yes, a DISPLAY verb can be used as it is under LE management.

However, don't issue a DISPLAY UPON CONSOLE. icon_eek.gif

The output of a DISPLAY verb gets routed to an Extrapartition TDQ (maybe CSFE, can't remember), which most likely is an indirect destination to DD Name MSGUSR.

The name of the Extrapartition TDQ where output from the DISPLAY verb is sent, is CESE, which may be directed to MSGUSR or CEEMSG. You'll have to research this yourself, because every shop is different.

my displays go to MSGUSR and CEMT I TDQ shows
Quote:

Tdq(CESE) Ext Ena Ope
Mod Out Dat(001) Ddn(CEEMSG )
...
Tdq(CSSL) Ext Ena Ope
Mod Out Dat(001) Ddn(MSGUSR )

I'll have to look that up because I just tell people to look in MSGUSR & didn't realize that it might change.
