Hi,

It can not be done. If you customize naming, generations won't be part of GDG.

Please use correct terms here (You mean generations or versions ???)

They won't be part of the GDG anymore using the names you specified, they'll be regular datasets. You can use a TSO RENAME or IDCAMS ALTER to do what you want, or just a normal copy from the GDG to a different cataloged dataset.

When talking about GDS it is important to use the correct terminology, as both version and generation are both valid in terms of a GDS.

It is a well known fact that only one version of a GDS may exist at any one time, however, multiple generations may exist together.

Please learn and use the correct terminology when posting, as using the wrong term can cause confusion and possibly delay a resolution to your problem

I have used this method:

MY.GDG.UCONTV.G0dddV00
MY.GDG.UCONTV.G1dddV00
MY.GDG.UCONTV.G2dddV00 where a JCL symbolic fulfills the DDD= each day and the leading digit (0 - 9) allows for 10 runs that day.
