I am using the SMFDUMP utility to take the backup of SMF data. This utility will switch smf man dataset & take the SMF dump & clear the SMF MAN datasets which will be in the status of dump required. how to do this by using the utility IFASMFDP? |

we can use the IFASMFDP to take backup/clear of SMF. Possible options are Dump,ALL & Clear. My requirement is to use the option ALL & INDD datasets should be in a status of dump required status. else if we specify the all available man dataset name in INDD then it will end with return code of 8 saying that unable to process the OPEN dataset. |

Use exit IEFU29 to automatically start an IFASMFDP job every time the SMF data set is switched. The IFASMFDP dump job only dumps and clears the full SMF data set. The only concern is if something causes the SMF data sets to switch so fast the dump and clear is not complete before SMF needs the data set again. |

Thanks Robert. I have a exit in LPALIB.
I gone through the MVS Installation exit document. They specified code example available in sys1.samplib. but i didn't find any member(IEFU29) related to the exit. |

When you're not finding what you expect, broaden your search a little.
Use wildcard and specify *29* members (any member with '29' in the name) in SAMPLIB. The name may be slightly different. |
