Issues FTPing data from TXT file to mainframe

I am trying to FTP a TXT file to mainframes. My FTP card was working absolutely fine lately and we made no changes to the FTP card as well. But in the last few runs we are facing a problem. When the TXT file is FTPed it is not FTPed in the correct format.

For example
if the TXT file contained information as:
INT0569.txtIMO France Mail
it will be FTPed to mainframe as:
ÿþI N T 0 5 6 9 . t x t I M O F r a n c e

Its confusing how and why we are getting ÿþ in front of the record and why there is a space between each alphabet.

I will appreciate any help with regard to this.

Looks like Unicode; you might check to see if the source file encoding was changed from ASCII to UTF (-16 maybe). If so, then the received data would change even though nothing about the FTP is different -- the translation changes based on the source, so change from ASCII to UTF and the output changes.
