Hi All,
Is there any Function to find Special Characters in a String in Easytrieve.
For eg: First Name is Anand$
Last Name is Murugesan%
here i want to verify each and every character whether it is an alphabet(Capital or small) or spaces. if it is Alphabets or spaces then i dont want them if it is special character then i need those records.
First Name starts at 10 length 30
Last Name starts at 20 length 40

It might help if you told us which of the CA products that you are using, or planning to use.

Hello,

Easytrieve 6.3 is way out of date. . . It is also out of support. . .

To do what you want, make an array of the "good" values (letters, spaces - numerics?) and compare each character (make this an array also) of the "input" to that array.

Dick,
Thanks for the response. I declared group variables and checked each and every character. it worked.

Hello,

The solution above will work for 6.4 also.

I know of no built-in Easytrieve function.
