Hi,
When the program is compiled and it expands all the copybooks and file mentioned in the program.
I am getting an error while compilation of the program because the one of the file is not getting expanded.
The file which is linked to the records need be expanded.
Does any one know how to link the record to the file.
Or can we check to which record the file is linked?
Please let me know if you need more information. |

Is there some reason you choose not to post the error? |

Is the copybook name spelled correctly?
Is the copybook in the correct library? |

The error message says that "An error was found in the definition of file" and "File "XXX" contained no data record descriptions."
The copybook name is spelled correctly and is in correct library.
If i want to create a new file and then link the record to that file. How is it possible?
I tried to check using IDDM -> PF8 but couldnt reach to any conclusion even i tried all the available options. |

Hello,
Are there no message-id's for the messages? When posting error text, it is important to also post the message id(s).

Sounds like this needs to be resolved. . . Why does the file contain no record descriptions? Have you verified that there are infact these descriptions?
Suggest you talk with your dba or idms support people. |

Thanks dick for the suggestion.
When the program is compiled then the copybook and file are expanded which can be checked in the spool.
I got the return code 12 on compilation of the program.
The error message says that "An error was found in the definition of file" and "File "XXX" contained no data record descriptions."
File is always linked to the record which gets expanded in the same way a copybook records.
The record which is linked to the file is present in the database. The only problem is that it is not getting linked with the file.
Can any one suggest how the file are linked with the records? |

As your issue is site-specific, the local support people should be able to quickly resolve. |
