Hello All,
I have little knowledge on keyword LOG/ LOGSTREAMID while defining a VSAM Cluster. As far as i believe is that these keywords are basically defined in Define CLUSTER Command for Recover purpose. In SOme of the IBm Manual i received information that they are used for RLS File.
What I am not sure is the below doubts which i am thinking ?
IS these keywords are only restricted/confined to RLS file or can we use these keywords in normal VSAM file as well (KSDS,ESDS etc) ?
In DEFINE CLUSTER Command we use Recovery/ Reuse for the recovery purpose, are these keywords not used while defining RLS VSAM File ?
What is the major difference between LOG (UNDO0 and LOG (ALL) ?
What is forward and backout recovery ?
Thank you for your help in advance. |

The VSAM options are usually given in an example of creating a RLS dataset for whatever product is going to use RLS.
I usually just copy the definition from the manual, change names and DASD allocations and let it get on. I can't really say that I have paid too much attention to what is in the cluster definitions just so long as it works. |
