To our production system , daily one zipped file will come through a file transfer process. Let's consider the receiving dataset is AAA.BBB.CCC.ZIP . We run UNZIP utility to unzip this to a dataset AAA.BBB.CCC and validate some date cards. And the same time the same zipped file will come to my Email also.
But sometimes this process will fail due to some reasons to Mainframe server. At those times we need to manually transfer this zipped file (which came to my Email) to that dataset (AAA.BBB.CCC.ZIP ) and then to run UNZIP utility to unzip to dataset (AAA.BBB.CCC) and check for date cards.
Now problem is, I'm unable to transfer this zipped file to dataset AAA.BBB.CCC.ZIP. My TN3270 transfer is showing success but the dataset AAA.BBB.CCC is empty.
Could any please advise me regarding this problem . |

I'm a little confused. Did you mean to say that the dataset 'AAA.BBB.CCC.ZIP' is empty? I don't know if you're trying to tell usthat you have a file transfer problem, a dataset allocation problem, or a PKUNZIP problem. |

I don't think so, problem with the transfer. Because I used the same ISPF option 6 to receive the same Zipped file from the dataset AAA.BBB.CCC.ZIP to a file. This process was successful and I received a zipped file which contains a txt file to my desktop.
But my problem is when I'm trying to do the reverse (sending the zipped file to dataset AAA.BBB.CCC.ZIP using ISPF option 6, it's showing file transfer process success but the dataset is empty when I open it).
thanks |

Unless your desktop machine is a server -- which is so rare as to be practically non-existent in my experience -- you cannot initiate an FTP on the mainframe and pull a file from your desktop machine. You must initiate the FTP from your desktop -- and ISPF option would not matter in this case as the FTP is driven by whatever FTP you're using on your desktop machine. |

Robert, I think we're talking about IND$FILE, not FTP. |

I sure hope so, Kevin -- but FTP is explicitly mentioned so who knows what the o/p is attempting to do. |

It was. I edited it out after a few back-and-forth discussions concerning what is really being done. |
