hi,

I have a file which is a GDG,

eg: ADWFACET.PROD.AD7045X.LODI18.G0558V00

I want to rename the versions with their respective date of creation in place of G0558V00,

i/p: ADWFACET.PROD.ADW7045X.LODI18.G0558V00
o/p: ADWFACET.PROD.ADW7045X.LODI18.OLD0711

Hi am new to this forum, this my first post so kindly excuse any mistakes and please point it out if i need to change anything

Thank You.

So what is the issue here, rename it. If you are not happy with doing this with production datasets, set up some test GDS and rename them as a trial before going for it on production.

When talking about GDS it is important to use the correct terminology, as both version and generation are both valid in terms of a GDS.

It is a well known fact that only one version of a GDS may exist at any one time, however, multiple generations may exist together.

Please learn and use the correct terminology when posting, as using the wrong term can cause confusion and possibly delay a resolution to your problem

Hi if it is production dataset and you dont have access to rename .. ask your support people ... else you can easily rename with 'r' option against the dataset name ..

Hope this helps !!!

Or use IDCAMS ALTER in a batch job.

Hello,

If the GDG has 10 generations, is your requirement to rename each generation based on the GDS creation date? Would n't that be a 'COPY ' instead of 'RENAME'?
Am I missing something here? icon_rolleyes.gif
