Hi,
I'm using the IBM Personal Communications 5.7.04. I want to print some czech coded spool file with Windows printer (or Acrobat Creator) via emulator (to add some formating to the document). I have set HostCodePage = 870 (Czech) and PrinterFontCodepage=1250 (Latin2), but czech characters are not printed correctly. It is interesting, that direct printing from AS400 is OK. Where can be a reason of the problem?
Thanks, Daniel. |

Hello and welcome to the forum,
Suggest you talk with your network printer support people.
They should know if you need to do something particular to that printer or environment.
Possibly, the as400 sends some escape sequence that controls the format at the beginning of the document. |

Hello,
You might borrow a compatable printer and directly attach it to your pc for testing. If that does not work, you would then contact IBM support as it would (should) be local to your system and not going thru the network.
If it works, then you could bring this info to the support people. If they are not willing/able to resolve then it becomes an issue for your management. If they want the solution, they will direct resources to work on it. |

Hi,
thanks for your advices, but I want to solve it. :-)
More investigations: Transformation between EBCDIC (870) and Windows (1250) code pages seems to be OK, but output codes are only single byte and Windows XP (font New Courrier) requires double byte. But how to repair it?
Next investigation: There is a file PCSPD.DAT, which controls font mapping. I have experimented with it, but there is no effect on printed output. I think my Personal Communications doesn't use/read it (e. g. this file can be empty and nothing happens). How to force the program to use it? |
