Did you research? When you ask questions we need to know the practical application. You need to tell us whether the field is a protected literal, modifiable, etc. |

Hi Sandy,
Let me make it more clear.
Its an input field which is of length 130. Obviously, its gonna take 2 lines for the data to fit in the input field (as max length is 80).
Requirement: I need to enter data to a field in IMS DC screen which is of length 130. Can I know whether its possible to enter data of length 130 to a field in IMS DC screen?
FYI: I'm using SDTM tool to modify the IMS screen. |

Let's say your screen is a 3270 - it is 80 characters wide with 24 lines down. So, you will need to design your output for at least 2 lines - making is user friendly - easy to read an allowing for attribute bytes.
What you can do is allow modifications to the 2 lines - move them into items within a group in working storage and do your editing there. |

Hi Sandy,
Yes. We have done the same thing. We have defined two fields for both the lines. Sending half the data for the first field and rest half for the second field. Retrieving both the fields in the pgm and then finally concatenating into one single field. Do you also mean the same as we do? If yes, we really Thank you very much for your help and also for speedy response. Hope we shall meet again in this forum with a new topic. :-)
NOTE: Ours is a PL1-IMS pgm. |
