I like to access IBM Mainframe on rent and this can be on access time or on monthly rental basis. Can anybody let me know any contact detail who provides this service with a reasonable rate?

Google is your friend. Googling ibm mainframe rental returns 64,800 hits the first of which talks about renting time by the hour.
If you don't need access to recent operating system releases, you could also explore Hercules. |

superk: does the DeZhi system allow access to the cobol and c/c++ compilers? Can you ftp file from and to their system?
I just signed up for an account, I was paying $250 a month last year with a company out in Boston. |

It appears to be an ADCD system in use in violation of the ADCD license agreement (for example, see Additional Licensing Terms and Conditions, sections 1 and 3). I tried it and it isn't very fast which makes me suspect that it might also be in violation of the section 'Processor/Engine Requirements' (meaning, it might be on running on someone's PC). My point isn't to make accusations of any sort, but be wary of using this for anything other than a quick test of something |

I have been meditaing a while before posting , but
I just checked the site...
honest users beware
the whole eGlobe stuff looks weird ( to use a polite word ) ...
start from
a whois query for an honest url

enrico-pBook:~ enrico$ whois ibmmainfraimes
...
Domain Name: IBMMAINFRAMES.COM

if eglobe was what it claims to be in its home page it would not run thru Use [URL] BBCode for External Links
continue with...
the sloppy site appearance...
bullshit in the home page
the AIX link points to a picture of an RS/6000
which looks taken in a corner of a living room
the os/390 link ...
chinese pages with screenshots of some ISPF screens
with a system id of DEMOPKG
( the demopkg should be IBM internal use only )
the clients link points to chinese bullshit
the news page has nothing in it
the media link contains pointers to
two links full of marketingspeak bullshit
the customer' s link gives a url not found
the company bio has still to be built,
after 12 years they look quite retarded to me
it is running on an unendorsed/illegal platform
IBM never issued licenses to outside organizations to run
licensed operating systems on hercules
( which is being developed by very competent and honest pople )
why hercules ???
the storage size ...
- The real storage online at IPL time was 2048M.
the MIPS ...
- The approximate total MIPS (SUs/SEC / 48.5 * # general CPUs) is 102.74.
the system ID ...
Central Processing Complex (CPC) Information:
CPC SI = 2084.EMUL.HRC.ZZ.000000000008A89F
the LPAR name ...
HWNAME= LPARNAME=FANDEZHI VMUSERID=
they are even that much incompetent not to know how to set the hercules
startup parameters to give the appearance of a proper manufacturer and plant
running furthermore on a low end cheap PC
I get more MIPS on my macbook pro
using a zOS 1.6 ( quite old )
with a certainly pirated copy of an IBM ADCD
most probably downloaded using emule |

mainframe time on rent at a reasonable rates |
That depends on how you define 'reasonable'. Like I said above, I was paying $250US a month last year and that was the cheapest I could find. There's a list of providers on the cobug site, you just have to go through that. Also, these people only work normal business hours, and renting to individuals is only a side, low income source of revenue for them so they may not be as responsive as otherwise.
My initial excitement about this dodgy dezhi system was due to this; there are seemingly no vendors providing reasonable access to individual users in this area. I would think that at lower prices there would be a larger market.
Also, IBM itself has programs to encourage new, younger users. But they don't make access available. If anyone knows otherwise I'd love to know. |

So what's the opinion on using Dezhi mainframe?
1. OK(Great its free)
2. Not recommended - poor System config/performance
3. Illegal - Dont use its a felony |

4. If you use it, be very careful. . . Do not enter anything you do not want circulated and used by others. Code, ideas, comments, etc. Also, make sure that the system (your system) you use to connet contains no files you don't want to share. You'll not know what is going on while you are connected. . .
