Hi,
I have a requirement in which I have to provide estimate to design some screens using Telon. The language used will be PL/1 only. Can anyone please provide rough estimate (time)required to create 10 screens.
(what will be the comparision ratio between TELON with COBOL & TELON with PL/1)
Thanks |

Why base an estimate for your workload on someone else.
What have you tried so far, how long did it take you, what differences in complexity between the screens is there, and how long is a piece of string. |

Telon is good if you need to create simple programs that don't require a lot of processing. As soon as you need to create custom code to do the processing, you might as well write PL/I directly.
For me working with Telon is like working with CLISTs, you don't do it until it is absolutely required...
FWIW, I once wrote, from scratch, a simple CICS enquiry transaction consiting of two screens and five programs and finished it before my lunch break. Doing the same with Telon would have cost me at least two days.
My opinion about Telon? The board software would censor it, but it is an anagram of this. |

Hi,
The Telon is a good tool to create the Screens in my expereince..
But for heavy processes .. we need a little bit more time to desin the back end with PL/I..
Will not take much time to create a front end using Telon.
I have worked only with Telon-Cobol..So cannot say an actual estimate.. |
