Hi sssamit,
Here every step is creating a new version for the GDG.
If you want ur Job to get started from STEP4 the version in GDG will be +1.
step4 is executing=gdg(+1)
step5 is executing=gdg(+2)

Priyesh. |

Hi sssamit,
If u directly execute from step 4 then 4th and 5th the version of GDG will created.
Lets me clear, suppose at present you have 8 th version of GDG, and after submitting the JCL from 4 the step the JCL will create 12 th and 13 th version instead of 9 th and 10th.
Please correct me if I m wrong.
Thanks & Regards
Rupesh |

Acc to you...If currently 8th version exists....& the job ran from 4th step onwards.....12th & 13th version will be created......ok ?
With out having 9, 10 & 11 th version a job cant create a version number 12 directly....Running step4 will create a version....that should be version #9...In your case....
I hope it was clear...

Hi Priyesh,
I want to say, Suppose before submitting job you have following GDG
A.B.C.G0008V00
Then after submitting the job from 4th step, the job will create following GDG
A.B.C.G00012V00
A.B.C.G00013V00
So when you will use 3.4 to check the version it will give you
A.B.C.G0008V00
A.B.C.G0012V00
A.B.C.G0013V00
I hope it is clear to you.
Thanks & Regards

i think in case if you want to restart then you need to change the versions i.e +1 and +2 to create the required versions. As the GDG allocation for the job is constant. The time you restart the job new allocation come into picture.
Hence the new parameter overrides are necessary. |
