How to know the volumes of a tape file are active or dismounted?
This is to recover a tape file which is scratched.
But I use a IEBGENER with the input DD as
SYSUT1 DD DSN=XXX,DISP=SHR,VOL=SER=(VOLNUM),UNIT=TAPE |

Unless you have access to your TMS, you need to talk to your storage management people to see the status of a tape.
If the dataset shows as being on the volumes, it may be as simple as recataloging the dataset, or it may be more involved if the tape(s) are cycle retained or specific RETPD retained.
Best place to go talk is your storage management people. |
