Hi,
I think its not possible to creat an alternet index on ESDS files.
Experts , correct me if I am wrong or incomplete. |

| you can create a aix for esds,it has same syntax and parameters as ksds.but ,it is not supported in batch cobol.it can be used under cics environment |

it can be done
if file is fixed block
length is =5+length of alternate key+n*4 bytes(rba)
else if file is variable block
avg length is =5+length of alternate key+n*4 bytes(rba)
n is avg occurence of duplicates in alternate key
max length is =5+length of alternate key+n*4 bytes(rba)
n is maximum occurence of duplicates in alternate key |
