Dear All
Appreciate if anyone could write down the steps involved in starting/stopping a queue manager in Z/os. If you could provide a rough idea(whether to start the CHINIT, command server, which jobs need to submit) that would also be helpful.
Thanks in advance

Is this a new instance?
What configuration steps have been completed?
- started task JCL created for QMGR and CHINIT?
- start up parms defined? (the CHINIT may start up with QMGR)
Your defined command prefiix is used to start the QMGR and CHINIT.
If you are the admin, you need to do more reading in the System Setup Guide. |

Hello Bill
The Queue manager has already been created. It went down and was not active . When I checked in the spool using command ( pre QMGRNAME) I found both MSTR & CHINIT was not active.I have mqmadmin access in z/os.Appreciate if you could tell me which JCl needs to be submited to start the queue manager. I understand all definations are customized for queue mangers in z/os. If you could provide me the name like this " The sample JCL, CSQ4IVPR, required to run the installation verification program is in library thlqual.SCSQPROC" that would also be helpful.
Thanks in advance

The QMGR is not usually started thru JCL. A console command is used and you need to know the command prefix that tells the system "this is for MQSeries".
Can you look back in the SYSLOG to where it was started previously and why it ended?
There are many config options that might need to be checked, but the simple command is <prefix> START QMGR and if the CHINIT doesn't start automatically, <prefix> START CHINIT . |
