Can anyone let me know some info about EGL (enterprise generation language) used in IBM rational business developer tool RBD.

Iam new to EGL and IBM tool RBD. While running the EGL simple code, I encountered the error "The build descriptor value of genDirectory must be specified" There is a default build descriptor value specified during the creation of the source EGL code.

I know EGL output can be seen in console area. Also, I would like to know where would I see the cobol code generated from EGL. Iam not sure where to see the cobol code generated.

Thanks,
radhakrishnan

Hello,

Does this run on a mainframe, AIX, or somewhere else?

Hello,

That is the name of the tool, not where it runs . . .

On which platform does it run?

From the little i've seen about RDZ (but i suspect we'll all see more soon), it runs on a non-mainframe system and then people port the source to the mainframe. I've heard there are issues with CICS and DB2 if the code uses either/both.

You might want to search for a forum that specializes in Rational Developer.
