Hello,

I have a problem like this,

For some reason the client had revoked the access for creating any files starting with the qualifier 'TEST' from last month. For eg, no one will be able to create the any files like 'TEST.AAAA.BBBB'. But there were files in the system which was created earlier, and those are getting archived now, when i'm trying to unarchive the files, IDCAMS is failing. Becoz the system is now programmed to give out jcl error if we try to allocate any files with starting qualifier as 'TEST'.

can any one help me for getting the details in the archived files, i thought of renaming it when it is in archive status itself, but it is still sumbitting unarchive job for that which is abending for the above said reason.

Thanks,
-sr

Assuming you're talking about DFSMShsm, I don't think you can change the data set name during a RECALL. If you use RESTORE to copy from back up, you can change the name using the NEWNAME keyword. I'm not sure how that will work if the original data set name is no longer valid, however.

Hello,

Have you mentioned this to the client?

What was their response?

If you haven't spoken with the client, why not?

actually, my humor was directed to the poster.

maybe the client thought the consultant group was smart enough to realize that when the notice was given, that they should recall all their 'test' ds's and rename them.

Yup, but now they're stuck. . . icon_confused.gif

Being proactive surely would have been better, but now that "Ah, umm, oops - we didn't rename the stuff before the rule changed" conversation needs to happen icon_wink.gif

or regenerate the test data.

I have been part

of contract where the customer spent most of his time generating new operational rules which would/sometimes did make it impossible to fulfill contract obligations - thus saving money.

dirty game, consulting.

Hi all,

I was able to manage this by giving a 'FREE' action in the line command.
The PDS was unarchived and i'm able to access the files inside that.

Thanks for all of your feedback.
