Hi All,

Every six months, we have a process which inserts around two million data in to IMS HALDB database. currently, we make use of DL/I insert for inserting the records. We thought of using the Load utility instead. Currently we use BMC load utility to reload the production unloads to test IMS HALDB database. When I took a look, the production unload has headers attached to it with all the partition information. I am not aware of the rest of the header information.

Can anyone of you please help me in understanding the format expected by the BMC load utility? Please let me know, if I have to provide more information.

Thanks,
Sandhya

Thanks for the reply. None of us in the team are aware of how to format the load data as expected by the load utility. Till date, we are using the IMS HALDB load utility to load the production unloads. Now, we are trying to load records which are output from a process. Any help will be appreciated in guiding me as how to format the load records as expected by the load utility. Also, if some one has used HALDB load utility without using production unloads, please share your experience.

Thanks.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, we dont have any BMC manual at our place. All the manuals are located in Arizona and our people over there conveyed that much of information is not present which might be helpful in this scenario.

I have one more query regarding the same topic. Is the initial load of an IMS database always through DL/I inserts? Is DL/I inserts are the only option to load data, if unloads are not applicable for loading? Anyhelp will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello,

No, dl/i inserts is not the only way to load data. . .

Suggest your organization very quickly hire (or rent) someone qualified before major damage is done to your environment.
