Hi , Everyone
Assumed that there are 2 jobs, one run at 3 am, and the other one run at 3:05 am. these 2 jobs will also use sort statement and icetool statement, respectively.
Now the former run successfully , however, the latter will always abend becase of ICE046A [SORT RECOVERING FROM B37 ABEND ON SORTWK DATA SET] .
My question is whether i shoud define the dependency for them, that is, once the former is done/finished, will the sortwk be released immediately so that the latter will run job successfully ?
Thanks for your kind advise.
Best Rgds,

Hello,
Yes, if you make job2 dependent on job1, you should avoid this particular problem.
You may still have a problem if some other job(s) allocate large amounts of work space. . .
Suggest you talk with your storage management people to ensure there is enough space allocated to that storage class. |

In order to answer you question, we must first determine the actual cause of the ICE046A. If you add //SORTDIAG DD DUMMY to both jobs, DFSORT wll write additional diagnostic messages to sysout. If you then send both sysouts to betten@us.ibm.com, I'll be happy to look them over. |
