Hi,
I am searching in Endevor for the library which stores JCL added by me from my local PDS, but not able to find where that Endevor Library is. If I use element display, member is there, but I want to see the Endevor source where it stores the element.
Please share your thoughts on this.
Thanks. |

I believe this varies shop to shop.
Please talk to someone in your shop and check if there are any documentation related to this.
Else Software Configuration Management people should help. |

don't understand what you mean by the endevor source.
Other than the element, that you display
(options are browse and view - depending on endevor release)
what is it that you want? |

I don't know how Endevor works internally, but most pc based version control systems store the actual files in an indexed database of some kind so the 'files' you add/update whatever aren't actually 'files' after they go in. |

for example in my previous shop below is how the JCLs are stored in the Endevor libraries
ENDEVOR.region.EXECJCL
region: DEV1,DEV2,UAT, PROD.
we can view the JCLs through Endevor (usual option to view a member) or we can directly view it from the library as ENDEVOR.region.EXECJCL(member)
Viewing through Endevor, we can see all version of the JCL and the history of the change and signoff info..etc.
But through the library, we can see only the latest version of that element. |

You will need to ask your Endevor administrator since each shop will use different datasets.
You are correct that the JCL member will be stored somewhere in a dataset. That dataset is specified on the JCL type definition screen in Endevor. At our shop, normal users do not have access to this screen - only administrators have access. It is possible that a special VSAM dataset called an ELIB is used to store the source JCL element. But I suspect it is stored in a standard PDS. |
