Alternatives to "BLDINDEX"

I am using IDCAMS to build alternate index file (using BLDINDEX), however the CPU usage is high. Is there any alternative method to build the alternative index in a cost effective way?

Total Records in base File = approx 50 million

I would say that IDCAMS would be the only way.

What is the CPU usage against elapsed

I can recall having played with the SORTCALL and INTERNALSORT / EXTERNALSORT parameters in the past to try and speed up the AIX building.

Suggest that you have a try and see if you can get any improvement
