Hi,
My question is why an alternate index cannot be defined on a base cluster coded with REUSE option.I tried the search engines but couldnt figure out the reason. Can anyone plz provide me with the apt reason.
Thanks in advance.

REUSE parm of DEFINE command erases all data on ANY open command.
ALTERNATE INDEXES allow data to be accessed thru an alternate key.
I don't see any point in making a temporary cluster accessible thru an
alternate key (on which any or next open command will erase all data).
BUT , did u have any error message trying to achieve this ?
plz post them, we will be able to investigate further. |
