Hi Dick,

actually when you cut and paste, there is a space after CDB001

Code:
'CDB001 .CDB004D' to get a output 'CDB001.CDB004D'

Gerry,

you are correct. Even without the cut&paste it is obvious.
Only excuse I can give is that I was to quick to criticize.

Hi,

you should be able to use this
Code:
   OPTION COPY
   INREC BUILD=(1,17,SQZ=(SHIFT=LEFT))
but I'm unable to test it due to the level of DFSORT installed.

or you could use
Code:
//STEP0001 EXEC PGM=ICEMAN
//SYSOUT   DD SYSOUT=*
//SORTIN   DD *
'CDB001 .CDB004D'
//SORTOUT  DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSIN    DD *
  OPTION COPY
 OUTREC BUILD=(1,7,9,9,80:X)
/*
